Before the Install: Preparing Your House for Seamless Floor Installation

Whole house flooring is a big job. You'll need to consider furniture removal and room clearing. This speeds up installation. We'll do the work upfront like identify potential subfloor issues, seams, and areas that aren't level before installation day to make sure you're ready for installation.

We see character homes and older Victorian homes in and around Ottawa often need subfloor work or even reinforcement from settling or wear. We'll consider moisture levels for any basement flooring work so that your new floor lasts as long as possible. Some older properties may require asbestos testing before we remove existing flooring materials, but we can discuss this as we plan the project.

Installing New Floors Over Existing Surfaces

Sometimes it's possible to install floors over existing floors to reduce labor and disposal costs. This approach builds on top of the existing floor height, so extra consideration has to be made for transitions and door clearances. You get faster project completion with less mess in your Ottawa home.

This technique only works in special circumstances and normally we would demolish or remove the existing floor. Vinyl and laminate are commonly laid over stable tile or well-bonded sheet vinyl. We do not recommend this method over damaged, uneven, or moisture-compromised surfaces.
